Alternative Transmission Inc. Secures FERC Order Confirming Conditions to Deliver Power to Puerto Rico
Alternative Transmission Inc. (ATI) is pleased to announce that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has issued a Declaratory Order confirming ATI’s potential qualification as both a Transmitting Utility and an Electric Utility under certain conditions, allowing the company to deliver power to Puerto Rico without imposing FERC jurisdiction on the island.
This landmark order clears the way for ATI to begin the engineering and discovery process to provide Puerto Rican citizens with the same high-quality electricity that much of the mainland United States enjoys. ATI aims to install and place into service an undersea power cable capable of delivering 1.9 GW of renewable baseload energy, significantly improving power reliability and reducing energy costs across Puerto Rico.
“We are excited to take this next step toward providing Puerto Rico with a sustainable and affordable energy solution,” said Adam Rousselle Sr. “This project not only supports energy independence for the island but also brings a long-term, resilient power solution.”
